Brisbane- Sunday the 30 of July
Toast to Reg - The Peels are hosting a small "wake" for Reg on Sunday 30 July at 4.00 p.m. - 6.00 p.m. for people who might wish to say "farewell" to our friend, mentor, inspiration.
We're at 9 Inchcape Street, Fairfield and our number is 38925669.

We'd love it if you could join us - bring something to drink and nibble and most importantly a story about Reg. Please let anybody else know who may wish to join in. Many of us who knew Reg don't actually know each other so it's a chance to meet and share stories. Pauline

Melbourne - Sunday the 6th of August
There will be a gathering for Reg at 5pm on Sunday the 6th of August at the Circus Oz headquarters in BayStreet Port Melbourne.
Everyone is welcome to come down to the space, all ages, including anyone who has made a connection or been influenced by Reg's work. It will be a chance to get together, tell a few stories about his amazing life, and reflect on the impact he has had on so many people.
Importantly we also want to send love and support from the circus community to Annie, Reg's family and particularly Sophie and Jo Bolton, who in the midst of all of us losing a colleague & inspiration, have lost a dad.
We do want it to be a celebration, as well as a memorial. Please bring drinks & a plate of food to share, and bring any juggling gear you've got, Reg would have liked the idea of some horsing around.
The Circus Oz space is right near the water at the end of Bay Street, on the corner of Rouse Street, opposite Molly Blooms pub. The entrance to the space is round the back in the laneway parallel to Bay Street.
Drop a line to me (director@circusoz.com.au) or Antonella(antonella@powerup.com.au) if you would like to help set up the space or contribute to the event. We're open to any suggestions or offers of help.
Cheers!
Mike & Antonella

Hey everyone,
I’ve set up a public notice-board online for my dad, Reg Bolton. I know he reached many people with his work & friendship during his lifetime. His passing was completely unexpected & the messages of love & support have reminded us of just how much he got up to! Reg would have loved for people to be connecting in some way from this, across different communities, around the world.
This notice board welcomes anyone who would like to add something. We would love to receive your story, discussion, article, photo, link or suggestion.

And finally, a hybrid collage of a guess at:
Dr Reg's ‘hand’ analogy for why kids need circus.
From a combination of Bill Blaikie’s recollection, and Sharon McCutcheon’s transcript of Reg talking.

Dr Reg says: "What I'm telling you is what I think children need. I'm not a child psychologist, I'm not talking literacy or numeracy. I'm talking mainly about children who start "happening" after the books have been written. Most books about child development stop at nine years old, I'm talking about that
really.

Pointer for the show off in us all;
“This finger is about showing off, which is about showing themselves to the world, or developing their self image, designing themselves.
Middle Finger sticks itself out too far and is the risk taker, the need for a bit of danger in our lives;
“The big finger, the one that sticks out and always gets hurt, it's at risk, sticks out from the crowd, sticks out from normal behaviour, potentially puts you at risk. Every child needs that at some stage.
Ring-finger for heart, for love;
“This one here, the ring finger, that's trust. It's quite happy to live next to the others.
the Little Finger for the part of us that needs nurturing,; “This one here knows it's the smallest one here, but it's about dreams and aspirations, a child has got a potential future that is limitless, any
child.
the Thumb for hard work which all circus requires as does life if something good is to be achieved;
“The next one represents hard work, a child often doesn't know the difference between work and play in life in general...
the Palm of the hand to be tickled for laughter's sake, cause life must be full of laughter.
“…if a child is missing any of those things it shows, you know if they don't trust, if they are not dreaming, if they daren't take a risk, if they've no self image, if they don't know how to work hard, if they never laugh, any of those things can be really weird....and my passion for circus is that kids
can fill up those gaps, you just lay it out on a plate and you know, if they're short on vitamin C they'll just go for the oranges, if you need iron, you'd go for the rocket, so with circus you've got the chance of going for the things you missed out on..."
