Insurance

How to get affordable insurance for circus and physical theatre practitoners and students without getting treated like a clown.

The first step is to join ACAPTA and let us know what your insurance needs are, what you are doing at the moment and the things that you can't get insured for.

The impact of changes to insurance guidelines, policies and premiums has had a major impact on circus and physical theatre throughout Australia.
Everyone has been affected - from small community circus training groups, to major companies, individual street performers and large training institutions.

We are not alone. Despite the Australian love of sport as both participants and spectators, many sporting groups have been forced to suspend activity indefinitely.

Many parades and street events can no longer operate, rock walls have closed and a range of outdoor events, festivals and activities are in danger of changing beyond all recognition as the organisers struggle to comply with the terms of their insurance.

ACAPTA intends to offer affordable cover for members only. ACAPTA has taken a 3 pronged approach to setting this in motion the key features of which are:
• Using this website as a means of gathering information on the problems (and solutions) that people are currently facing with insurance and distilling this into an information base for others in the circus and physical theatre world.
• We have begun discussions with insurers that address the particular needs and perceptions of our industry. Our success in getting them to 'come to the party' hinges on the number of members we represent.
• Finding suitable partners in the academic, medical and OH&S fields who are interested in extending the work begun on a Safety Code for our industry.

Oh, and did I mention that to get this insurance you need to JOIN ACAPTA
